“Longer than usual, and with more volume,” said Ghesquière of his silhouette, which was for the most part built around a somewhat oversized jacket—in papery leather, or caban-style, in a painterly brick print used by Cristóbal Balenciaga in 1961. (via vogue.com)
You’d think a voluminous top and skirt, to the knees would sound like a bad idea. But good god it looks good! The proportion is shockingly perfect. I love that the styling is so simple and to the point, and the chunky jewelry is a great counterpoint, with enough weight to hold its own (you couldnt really do some wispy, tiny jewelry with these shapes, they would get lost). I also love the colors here. The brick red (as explained above), the soft rose and the warm tobacco browns are so wonderful for early spring. Note to self: good one for a fashion fantasy!
